plbuck The budget talks make me wonder what country's payroll our "elected" officials are on; China maybe? Doesn't matter either way, American More... voters are apathetic and our political system is dysfunctional; like Obama said, time's up. Hide

How the world turns.

why is it that the things that get cut are the things that people need the most?
dalebert • 02-16-2011 23:36:18
Why do we elect such nuts to our government?
Bob • 02-16-2011 23:43:48
Not very bright idea, right?. Education is what drives American economy to Super Power and you don't invest in it and our kids. What's wrong with these people?

plbuck National debt $14,000,000,000,000.00 give or take a few trillion. We need to buy more stuff.
Let's start another war to celebrate the New Year. That will add some more zeros!
dalebert • 01-29-2011 00:10:27
And, may I add, glad to see you are still here. There don't seem to be so many of us now.....
dalebert • 01-29-2011 00:11:56
We must all be very busy working so we can pay lots of taxes toward that debt.
january • 01-29-2011 07:22:43
500k per household or something right?
Dennis • 01-29-2011 12:14:47
I figure 150,000,000 working Americans. $14,000,000,000,000.00 / 150,000,000 = $93,333.00 per person. Of course rich people and lawyers won't have to pay so that number could be higher.
plbuck • 01-29-2011 20:01:18
So if we pay 6% interest on our debt all 150 million working Americans are pay $5,599.99 interest each year. This is becoming a heavy burden. Of course the goverment could print money and pay it all back bankrupting us as individuals.

Well that's an interesting philosophy. Just like most religious beliefs, the subsequent theory is only applicable if you subscribe to that belief system. It makes sense for you though.
Emilex • 12-31-2010 23:26:53
It is an interesting philosophy, worked well in the thread, and made for good discussion. Happy New Year Emily.
plbuck • 01-01-2011 10:56:13
Happy new year to you as well.
Emilex • 01-01-2011 14:08:21
Yes it does. Maybe that is why atheists don't go in there.
plbuck • 12-31-2010 16:47:08
it wasn't so timid this morning, but it didn't last long

plbuck The cost of living is outrageous, but I suspect I will continue paying it; if I live long enough.
it would seem to be the most prudent course of action with possibly as much hedging as you can manage without calling down the wrath of those that set the prices.

plbuck Softly glowing: Christmas glimmers in my mind, like the slow dance of the Northern Lights on Earth's crown; beautiful, rhythmic, eternal.
it's a really good thing that the source of Northern Lights is not dancing in your head like the proverbial sugar plums
dalebert • 12-13-2010 18:37:39
When are going to publish a book of poetry? You're good.
Bob • 12-13-2010 21:20:30
I am working on two books; an older idea (science fiction) that just needs updating, and a newer concept (non-fiction), not fleshed-out yet. In this case I was listening to Christmas music and just started typing.
plbuck • 12-13-2010 21:44:27
You have a lot of talent. Hope you finish your books someday.
